Top investment bank is looking for counterparty credit risk professionals for global markets team in London, £50,000-£60,000
Background: The bank is one of the world's largest financial institutions, serving individual consumers, small and middle market businesses and large corporations with a full range of banking, investing, asset management and other financial and risk-management products and services. It is a leading provider of global corporate and investment banking services, including commercial lending, global high-yield debt, global equity and global M&A. Together with this they are a global leader in wealth management, private banking and retail brokerage.
The role: Primary Credit Risk partner for the Global Markets Group in assessing and approving non-standard transactions and new business initiatives: -Work side by side with Market Risk partner in looking at all aspects of risk with support partners. -Will be the “Credit” representative for Risk Forums, 3PD Approval Committee, etc. -Work closely with CDP/GCIB Risk to get input on client, ensure that they understand the risks of the transaction, and assess appropriateness.
Secondary Credit Risk Partner to the Global Markets Group in facilitating trade approvals, acting as an advisor to CDP/GCIB Risk for Global Markets trading risk: -Trading exception management should rest primarily with CDP/GCIB Risk. GMCRM will monitor the overall level of exceptions to ensure that the exceptions are getting resolved and elevated. -GMCRM will not underwrite/approve client TRE. Incremental approval authority will be used only when necessary as defined by the Global Markets Risk Management Credit Authority.
Credit Risk Management of the Global Markets Credit Portfolio: -Understand and monitor the overall trading counterparty credit portfolio by industry, risk rating, country risk, risk sensitivities. -Work closely with Product Partners, Regional Managers, GCIB Risk Partners to make sure that the GMCRM credit strategies are consistent with the broader business and risk management strategies.
Ownership of the Global Markets Credit Risk Management Policies and Practices -Review and update Global Markets Credit Policies, Practices and Procedures. -Provide training to the front office and relevant parties for implementation.
Global Markets Documentation: -Work closely with Global Markets Documentation to set standards for trading documentation. -Establish elevation process and tracking of non-standard documentation, aging negotiations. -Work closely with Product Legal to understand various types of agreements being used for different types of trades. -Work closely with Collateral Operations to minimize operational risk by ensuring we are negotiating collateral agreements consistent with our collateral policy and systems. Monitor the level of collateral disputes.
Credit Risk Infrastructure: -Key participant for assessment and development of the Global Markets counterparty credit system. -Work closely with Credit Risk Analytics/Methodology teams.
Active involvement in managing/reducing credit risk to deteriorating trading counterparties: -Work with the desk to proactively reduce risk. -Work closely with GCIB Risk, Front Office, Operations, Legal, Mid-office, Collateral operations.
CVA-“Credit” point person to oversee consistency of CVA calculation.
Ideal Profile: -Extensive and in depth experience of credit risk management gained in a capital markets credit area, -Product knowledge of derivatives and the specific credit issues relating to these products, -Excellent communication skills required, ability to build networks and work across lines of business, -Broad understanding of Capital Markets and risk methodology.
